As I pedal slowly up the hill towards Cheviot Tunnel between Molesworth and Yea, I have to remind myself that this is hardly the Tour de France. After all, rail trails are built in abandoned railway corridors to avoid steep hills and there’s really no excuse for my being so sluggish. To read the full article click here.
Crouching low against a wall of ice, I watch as a helicopter lands. The noise is deafening, and the wind from the rotors sends unsecured hats and scarves flying. Passengers disembark cautiously, and as the chopper lifts skyward, ice particles swirl momentarily in the breeze before showering all over us. To read the full article click here.
The approach to Seal Bay on Kangaroo Island is via a boardwalk that weaves across sand dunes and dense scrubby vegetation. From there, you’ll see the stunning Southern Ocean vista, a rocky coastline and a pristine powder-white beach. At first glance, it seems there are boulders everywhere, but a closer inspection reveals hundreds of sea lions basking in the late afternoon sunshine. To read the full article click here.
