Centenary of ANZAC 2015

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

On Saturday 25 April 2015, Australians commemorated ANZAC Day and marked 100 years since the Gallipoli landings. In Melbourne, rain didn’t dampen spirits as large crowds attended the Dawn Service and later the ANZAC Day March to the Shrine.

This year, Federation Square was also decked out with thousands of poppies thanks to a project called ‘5000 Poppies‘ – and it looked amazing. Their aim was “… to ‘plant’ a massive field of handmade poppies…. as a stunning visual tribute to Australian servicemen and women for more than a century of service in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.”

Lest We Forget.

  1. what great photos, having been a very small part of the 5000 Poppies Project I’m delighted it meant as much to the returned service people as it did to us.

    • It was really amazing how many people got involved with the 5000 Poppies project – and it looked stunning in Federation Square and on the bridge on ANZAC Day. Thanks for your comment Wendy.
